Salman Khan’s still upset with Priyanka Chopra for dropping out of Bharat last minute

Salman Khan is still not over Priyanka Chopra’s last minute withdrawal from his film Bharat.

During a live session with the film’s leads, Katrina Kaif, who filled in for PC, told the session’s moderator Bharat director Ali Abbas Zafar, that she had a very short period of time to prepare for the role of Kumud Raina and Salman quipped that it was because Priyanka deserted the project at the eleventh hour.

“I had two months to prepare for the role and I worked extremely hard. Ali was very, very clear at least about the look of the character and once we cracked the physicality and hair, it was a big help for us. The character was extremely well written, very strong, a woman fighting in a man’s world. Once the structure was in place it was about putting as much preparation and reading the scenes and rehearsing with Ali and my coach was helping me too,” said the actress.

Salman added, “Yes, Katrina Kaif worked really hard to prepare for the role. If only Priyanka Chopra gave us more time…”

Ali Abbas Zafar, quickly cut in and said: “Next question…”

Last year in April, Priyanka Chopra was announced as the lead opposite Salman in Bharat, however, three months later she called it quits claiming that the film’s shooting schedule clashed with her wedding dates. While the director was happy for her, the producer called her ‘unprofessional’and Salman, reportedly said,”We said [to Priyanka] of course, if you don’t want to do it, don’t do it. We were given different reasons back then.”

“But whatever the reason may be, the wedding, the movie, or if she doesn’t want to work in an Indian movie, or doesn’t want to work with me, or work only in Hollywood films and TV, they are her reasons. We are really happy and supportive about her doing good work. So what if she doesn’t work here? She is making India proud out there. If she doesn’t work with Salman but works with a big hero in Hollywood, she is making India proud,” he added.

Bharat, based on Korean war drama An Ode To My Father, also stars Tabu, Disha Patani, Sunil Grover and Jackie Shroff and is scheduled to release June 9th.
